Samsung Galaxy S24 is all set to be unveiled in January 2024 and now according to the latest information, the device has entered a network linkage test with three mobile communication companies. As the launch is just around the corner, attention is focused on the design and key features. This new Galaxy tries to differentiate itself with an AI phone equipped with generative artificial intelligence (AI).
According to the latest report from SK Telecom· KT· LG Uplus recently started testing the Galaxy S24 network linkage. The three companies have received the Galaxy S24 Ultra model from Samsung Electronics and are evaluating whether it will work properly in the domestic network. The smartphone used in the test is a finished product, but it is reported that it was provided in the form of a “box phone” in the shape of a lunch box to prevent design leaks.
The network interlocking test is the last procedure before commercial sales, apart from institutional preparations such as electromagnetic compatibility certification. It is a work to evaluate whether the new terminal is suitable for the network of domestic mobile carriers and whether there are no problems with its functionality. If it passes the test, the domestic release schedule will be confirmed.
Samsung will equip the Galaxy S24 series with its self-developed AI ‘Gauss’. Google’s AI chatbot ‘Bard’, an Android ally, is also expected to be partially implemented.
In the case of the Ultra model, there are five cameras arranged vertically on the back. One of the rear telephoto cameras will be changed to 50 million pixels, which is five times higher than the previous model’s 10 million pixels. Thanks to this, it is expected that the 5x optical zoom function can be used.
Earlier it was reported that the Galaxy S24 Ultra has a 6.8-inch screen with Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ resolution, the Galaxy S24 Plus has a 6.7-inch QHD+ screen, and the Galaxy S24 has a 6.2-inch FHD+ screen.
The mobile application processor (AP), which is the brain of the smartphone, is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon and the self-developed Exynos in parallel.
It is expected that the satellite communication function, which can transmit emergency messages even in shadowed areas, will not be installed this time as well. This function is a service that can send rescue notification signals using L-band frequency band satellites in case of emergency. Apple first loaded the feature into the iPhone 14 series last year.
Samsung seems to have decided that there is no need to rush the introduction of the Galaxy S24 in terms of utility rather than technology. The function provided by Apple is a one-way structure, which allows only a limited form of transmission. An industry official said, “I understand that Samsung Electronics is preparing to equip its next-generation models with satellite communication functions that enable two-way services.”
