Samsung recently announced its revenue results for Q1 2023. Reportedly, Samsung is looking to bring its mobile application processor (AP) ‘Exynos’ on flagship devices. Yes, you read that right, Kwon Hyuk-man, Executive Vice President of System LSI, said, “We are pushing for the return of Exynos to the flagship of the Galaxy series.”
“We are also producing test chips for customers based on the foundry’s 3-nanometer process,” Samsung Electronics said during its first-quarter earnings call on April 27, “and the 2-nanometer process is being developed with the goal of mass production in 2025.”
Galaxy S24 with Exynos 2400
Samsung’s latest Galaxy S23 Series was launched with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (4 nm). In response to a question about the possibility of Exynos being installed in the Galaxy S24 series to be released next year at the conference, Samsung Electronics said, “The MX division is a major customer and aims to develop business with a product lineup that can be applied to all segments of the Galaxy series. We are also working on re-entry.”
“As the growth of the mobile market is slowing down, we need to prepare for this, and as a short-term strategy, we are strengthening mobile SoC competitiveness as well as expanding our business to non-mobile fields including SoC for electric vehicles,” he said.
As per the recent leak, the Exynos 2400 gained a single-core average score of 1530 and a multi-core average of 6210 on Geekbench 5. However, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy scored 1556 and 4987 in single-core and multi-core testing.
