According to the latest Counterpoint Research site, Samsung has reportedly grabbed the number one position in the Indian smartphone market in Q4 2022. The South Korean tech giant has overtaken Xiaomi by two percent to grab the top spot in India. In Q4 2022, a total of 152 million units were shipped which gets a 9% YoY decline.
According to Counterpoint Research, the premium segment of smartphones (above Rs 30,000) contributed 11% of shipments and 35% of market revenue.

According to Tarun Pathak, Research Director at Counterpoint Research, “The Indian market is witnessing a ‘premiumization’ trend. (But) Xiaomi has been caught underprepared with a budget phones-heavy portfolio for the shift.”
