Ahead of the official debut of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S23 lineup, the Korean media Maekyung has reported that the revenue of Samsung’s MX division rose from 28.42 trillion won in the second quarter of 2022 to 32.21 trillion won in the third quarter of 2022 which is an increment on the quarterly basis of 13.3%.
Talking about the company’s profit it is said that the profit fell from 3.36 trillion won in the second quarter of 2022 to 3.24 trillion won in the third quarter of 2022. No doubt, the latest fourth generation of Samsung foldable phones has achieved a huge sales record even though Samsung also promoted these foldable phones in different countries via its unique marketing strategies.
We can say that that jump in revenue will be directly added to foldable smartphones such as the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. However, the profit boost the company would have enjoyed from increased sales of these devices was offset by higher prices for smartphone components.
As per the latest information, the Galaxy S23 series smartphones will reportedly be coming with more expensive components, including an overclocked version of Qualcomm’s second-generation Snapdragon 8 SoC and a 200-megapixel main rear camera.
Samsung seems to be preparing the same sale prices of the Galaxy S23 as the Galaxy S22 Series. If it’s true then the company will take even lower margins from its flagship lineup, further reducing its operating profit. But if Samsung raises prices, the Galaxy S23 series will lose competitiveness with Apple’s iPhone 14 series.
Samsung is planning to offer the Galaxy S23 at the same price as the Galaxy S22, even if it means a further drop in the company’s operating profit, the report said. That means Samsung could price the Galaxy S23 at $799, the Galaxy S23+ at $999, and the Galaxy S23 Ultra at $1,199.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Series official launch is around the corner. It is expected that Samsung will launch the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra in the first week of February 2023.
