According to the latest information, the glass disk size of the 8th generation OLED line for IT which was made by Samsung Display and LG Display was found to be 8.7 generations.
For now, the efficiency of the 8.7th generation is 9% higher than that of the 8.5th generation (2290x2620mm). In order to increase the panel production efficiency of IT products currently being produced in the 6th generation (1500x1850mm) OLED line, domestic and foreign panel makers are developing 8th generation OLED technology for IT. IT products such as Apple’s iPad and MacBook are the target markets.
TheElec reported, the size of this new 8.5th generation is 90mm longer in the horizontal direction and 120mm longer in the vertical direction than the 8.5th generation (2200x2500mm).
Samsung Display is expected to place an order for the equipment required for the first (1st stage) line of the 8th generation OLED for IT within this year at a scale of 15,000 (15K) sheets per month based on the input of glass discs.
