Samsung Display to mass produce 8th generation OLED in 2026

As per the Market research firm UBI Research, Samsung Display will mass produce OLED for IT products from its 8th generation organic light emitting diode (OLED) line for IT from the first half of 2026.

UBI Research said, “Samsung Display decided to invest in the 8th generation OLED line for IT products early this year,” and added, “We will mass produce OLED for various IT products, including laptops, from the first half of 2026.” IT products include tablets, laptops, monitors, etc.

After announcing an investment of 4.1 trillion won last April, Samsung Display has been ordering equipment to be introduced into the 8th generation OLED line for IT from domestic and foreign equipment companies.

UBI Research said, “LG ​​Display and BOE also plan to invest in the 8th generation OLED line for IT as soon as they secure investment funds and customers,” and added, “Visionox is also discussing with major equipment companies to invest in the 8th generation OLED for IT.” . He continued, “As demand for OLED for IT from set companies increases in the future and investment in 8th generation OLED lines for IT from panel companies progresses, the IT product market will become a new high value-added market for OLED following smartphones.” Annual IT OLED shipments are expected to jump from 7.9 million units in 2023 to 18.8 million units in 2024.
