Reportedly, the carrier service’s first quarter results are disclosed recently. It reveals the optimistic sign for SK Telecom while bad for KT. On the other hand, LG Uplus depicts no change. The performance improvisation due to the enlargement of the fifth generation 1G mobile subscriber has decreased. Similarly, the same trend seems to appear with respect to the transition to fourth-generation mobile communication.
Talking about the numbers then SK Telecom posted sales of KRW 1.4 trillion whereas the operating profit of KRW 3720 billion. While the sales were reduced by 4950.0 percent YoY basis. Parallelly, the operating profit went up 2.94% YoY and 4.14% YoY respectively. SK Broadband is able to achieve KRW 1.615 trillion in sales and KRW 761.0 billion in operating profit in the same duration of time.
Coming to KT then it registered KRW 1.6 billion in operating profit of KRW 4437.4861 trillion in the first quarter respectively. While its listed Sales are 2.1%, this is lower than earlier year sales. While 2.6% higher than in the same period last year. When it comes to operating profit then it was up to 221.0% YoY, consecutively down by 22.1% YoY respectively.
Whereas LG Uplus revealed sales and operating profits of KRW 1.3 trillion and KRW 5413.2602 billion for the first quarter. Its sales figure are 1.9% low compared to the previous year’s sales. On the other hand, the sales are 2.6% higher than in the same period last year. In terms of operating profit then it declined by 9.2% YoY and 0.4% YoY.
Consolidate Sales
Therefore, making a direct comparison between the four telecom companies on a confined basis are prove to be meaningless. Since the overall business structure is distinct from each other.
Distinctly, SK Telecom mobile communication sales recorded KRW 2.6270 trillion. It registered an increase of 1.5% year-on-year. KT Wireless sales are 1.5448 trillion won. It comparatively expanded by 0.4% YoY and 1.1% YoY. LG Uplus Mobile sales are KRW 1.5611 trillion. When coming to its subscriber list then KT has comparatively more subscribers with respect to LG Uplus respectively.
