Samsung to develop its own GPT

According to the Korean report, the South Korean tech giant Samsung has planned to ban the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) such as ChatGPT on company PC. The company is looking to develop its own generative AI optimized for translation and document summarization.

Last month, Samsung restricted the use of generative AI through in-house PCs due to the chat GPT policy for employees in the device experience (DX) sector.

Samsung is reportedly making its AI models to optimize translation, document summarization, software development support, and more, but it appears to be for its own internal use, and it’s unclear whether it will be used for B2C.

Previously, the Samsung Electronics Semiconductor (DS) division uploaded in-house information to ChatGPT and then restricted its use, and other divisions were also restricted.

Along with this, Samsung Electronics asked employees to be careful not to enter company-related information or personal information of themselves or others even when using generative AI outside the company via mobile devices.

Samsung Electronics said, “Since the information entered into the generative AI is transmitted and stored to an external server and used for AI learning, it is impossible to retrieve or delete the content once uploaded, so important information of the company can be used as an answer to other people’s questions. There are serious security risks”.
