After Fold, Flip now Samsung is working on Tri-Fold

Samsung is the dominant player in the foldable smartphone market. The company’s latest Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 foldable smartphones are performing better and now the company is working on the fifth generation of foldable devices – Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5. At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023, the company showcased various types of foldable displays, some of which are likely to get into the mainstream in the near future.

Samsung Galaxy Tri-Fold

Samsung currently has two types of foldable forms – Fold and Flip. Now, the South Korean tech giant is reportedly working on Tri-Fold. Now a reliable tipster Yogesh Brar claimed on Twitter that Samsung could launch a tri-fold device this year in addition to the expected Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 models.

Either way, the concept and patent point to a device with two hinges. One of the hinges enables an inward fold while the other hinge enables an outward fold, resulting in a Z shape of sorts when partially folded.

Brar also said that the most-awaited Samsung Galaxy S23 FE will not arrive. Instead, he believes that Samsung is focusing on new foldable, including the Galaxy Tri-Fold.

As per several reports, the new Galaxy Tri-Fold can be folded three times. This means that the new Galaxy Tri-Fold will have a larger and longer screen compared to other foldable smartphones. The device may also be thicker.
