On March 15, 2023, Samsung Electronics and Hyundai Motors join hands for the ADAS Semiconductor (Vehicle). The South Korean tech giant is now ready to come up with a new chip and it will be integrated into 2025-2026 vehicles.

Hyundai Motor and Samsung Electronics working together for the first time

This will be the first time that Hyundai Motor Company and Samsung Electronics have signed a consignment design and foundry contract for semiconductors together.

Reportedly, the System LSI Division of the Device Solutions (DS) Division of Samsung Electronics started design collaboration work with Hyundai Motor Company from the end of last year. Hyundai Motor Company requested the development of an ADAS main chip, an In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) chip, and a connectivity chip that guarantees interconnection between these two chips, and delivered the desired specifications to Samsung. All of them are known to use Samsung’s 5-nano process in the form of a system-on-chip (SoC). The first product to be developed is a core chip for ADAS. Development started in October of last year.
