Samsung to begin mass production of 3rd-Generation 4-nm products in 1st Half of 2023

Reportedly, Samsung Electronics will start mass production of third-generation 4nm chips. Remarkably, this is the primary component in the foundry ultra microfabrication process sector, in the first half of this year. While maintaining the yield, as this problem arose in the initial stages of the process. Samsung subsequently succeeded in achieving technological advances in performance, power consumption, and area of improvement. This is with respect to the initial process. As the same factors enable Korean chipmakers a signal of attracting large corporate consumers.

As per Samsung Electronics’ business report released recently. It will be going to start mass production of chips via a 4 nm 2.3 generation process in the first half of this year respectively. Notably, this is the very first time, when the Korean giant mentioned the particular timeline of a 4nm version. While, after the commercialization of the SF4E chip. The company went through considerably large difficulties in the chip yield management process. And that’s become the absolute reason for losing the big giant like Qualcomm with TSMC.

Although, Samsung Electronics significantly increased its production capacity with its yield of 4nm process got an appropriate track in early 2022. While industry experts believe that its 4nm process is at 60 percent. Also, at the same time, its yield is not reaching with respect to TSMC, that on 70-80 percent.

On the other hand, Samsung Electronics taking a leap in solving technical challenges like improving performance and yields in the advanced processes. Meanwhile, its rivalry with TSMC is predicted to heat up in the mass production of the Ultra microfabrication process for 5 nm.

Meanwhile, the South Korean giant is also developing a 4 nm production facility at its foundry plant in Taylor, Texas. With this, the company’s motive is to initiate its operations in the second half of 2024.
