Samsung Display used additional inkjet equipment for iPhone 14 OLED

On December 28, 2022, a new report claimed that the Samsung Display used inkjet equipment in the entire OLED production process of the Apple iPhone 14 Pro lineup released this year.

Samsung Display used inkjet equipment just for the thin film encapsulation (TFE) process that protects OLEDs from moisture and oxygen until the iPhone 14 regular and plus models released this year and the iPhone 13 series last year.

In terms of the equipment used in the process was manufactured by SEMES, a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics. There were Six units of inkjet equipment supplied by SEMES to Samsung Display between the end of last year and the beginning of this year installed in the A3 line and are known to have been used for mass production of OLED for the iPhone 14 Pro lineup.

LG Display, which is mass-producing OLED for the iPhone 14 Pro Max apart from the Samsung Display, is known to have applied the same method.
