Google Play Store added new tap to keep non-smartphone apps in one place

Google tried to alter the Play brand into several different aspects. It includes movies, music and more

As we are all aware of the fact that the Google Play store is just a place, we refer to smartphones, in order to download and update the apps. By then, things have reciprocated a lot. Now, Google tried to alter the Play brand into several different aspects. It includes movies, music and more. Although, it’s an effort that has majorly not succeeded. But the app store itself has made its way altogether to various non-phone devices. The range includes smartwatches, TVs, tablets, Chromebooks, and your car. Therefore in order to show apps for other devices, Google is simplifying its in-app experience. To cater for you with apps for your non-smartphone devices.

Here’s a new tab spotted called “Other devices”. The tab shows on the Play Store’s homepage itself. On selecting the same, it will show three different sub-sections. In this sub-section, one is for your smartwatch, another for your TV, and the last one for your car. And each of these will display app variants for Wear OS, Android TV/Google TV, and Android Auto respectively. Here it will show nine category-based carousels.

Since navigation can be difficult on a few of these devices, on respective Google Play Store instances. Let’s consider an example of smartwatches, it’s quite achievable but at the same time, the small screen makes it an uncomfortable experience. And in order to download an app to my watch, there’s an often need to search for it over the phone and click “install” from there.

Notably, this new tab isn’t giving us any new features and functionality. Since we can already install apps remotely to other devices. But at the same time, it serves as a one-stop shop for all the smartphone apps, one can get and can easily download to any of your devices. Therefore, Google wants your phone to serve as a central hub to manage all your Google devices. While this new updated Google Play Store page starts rolling out to devices now.
