Samsung SDI is looking to expand its EV battery pack production line in Michigan, USA. The latest report that there are tens of billions of won plans set to facilitate investment.

The company is planning to use most of the amount to be supplied to local automakers before 2025 when the joint venture with Stellantis produces batteries in earnest.

Now, a fresh report from TheElec claimed that Samsung SDI is preparing to invest in two lines of electric vehicle battery packs at its Michigan plant in the United States.

The investment will take place in early next year. The specific investment amount info was not available yet. At that time, Line 1 had a rather large initial investment due to factory remodeling and facility provision. In the case of Line 2, it is expected that equipment purchase and initial stabilization costs will be incurred thanks to the use of existing infrastructure.

Moreover, Samsung SDI and the Stellantis battery joint venture will set up a 23-gigawatt hour (GWh) battery plant in the United States by 2025.
