In 2024, TVs are now the center of home entertainment, driven by the increasing popularity of large-screen TVs that are fast becoming a new trend, with AI and specifications becoming the most important factors for purchases.

More than 1,920 consumers aged 25 to 64 years in eight markets in the Southeast Asia and Oceania (SEAO) region were surveyed in the third quarter of 2023.

Across the region, while consumers are generally satisfied with their TVs, large screens are increasingly popular with consumers, with 30% of consumers saying they own a TV 53 inches or above. In particular, wide screen sizes such as 98 inches are becoming the new standard, as survey results show that purchases of even larger TVs, namely 60 inches and above, have increased by more than 10% compared to the previous year. At the same time, 55% of consumers surveyed indicated their desire to purchase a TV that is larger in size than the TV they currently own.

Despite the challenging economic climate in 2023, the study found that picture and sound quality and durability (92%) still ranked top compared to product specifications (80%) in terms of factors influencing the final purchase decision, while price and value (39%) %) ranks third.
