The South Korean tech giant Samsung is currently holding a ‘2024 TV new product launch promotion’. The company promoting its latest TVs with on-device artificial intelligence (AI) across all product lines. Following smartphones and home appliances, TVs also feature on-device AI. AI converts low-quality videos into high-quality ones.

“We will open the era of AI TV through the new 2024 TV model, which is a culmination of the technological prowess of Samsung Electronics, which has ranked first in the global TV market for 18 years,” said Yong Seok-woo, head of the visual display (VD) business at Samsung Electronics. “We will open the era of AI TV with premium and ultra-large TVs.” “We plan to target the central market,” he said.
Samsung has recently launched its new 2024 TV model. Neo Quantum Dot Light Emitting Diode (QLED) 8K, Neo QLED, QLED, Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED), Crystal Ultra High Definition (UHD).
Product lines excluding OLED are based on liquid crystal displays (LCDs). In addition, all product lines except OLED were expanded to 98 inches.
President Yong said, “OLED has secured a 23% market share in two years, and in Korea, ultra-large screens of 77 inches or larger have surpassed competitors’ market share,” and added, “OLED will also focus on ultra-large and premium products.”
For your information, the company is using a mix of Samsung Display’s Quantum Dot-OLED and LG Display’s White (W)-OLED in its OLED TV. It is similar to Samsung Electronics’ premium smartphone strategy. Samsung Electronics will run the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 series and Samsung Electronics Exynos series applications (apps) in parallel. The core functionality is the same. The strategy is to use different APs for each region.
AI is responsible for improving picture quality and sound. The viewing experience has been improved with 8K Upscaling Pro, Contrast Enhancement Pro, AI Motion Enhancement Pro, Active Voice Pro and Moving Sound Pro.
