Samsung has recently purchased 107 US audio patents from Knowles Electronics, a competitor of its subsidiary Harman.
Harman already surpassed 1 trillion won in operating profit for the first time last year. The list of U.S. patents purchased by Samsung Electronics from Knowles includes various audio signal processing technologies, including noise suppression and noise cancellation.
The Purpose
The purpose of Samsung Electronics’ purchase of 107 US patents from Knowles appears to be to strengthen audio technology. Samsung Electronics can expand its product line and applied technologies by utilizing Harman, which exceeded 1 trillion won in operating profit for the first time last year, and the recently secured Nols patent.
