According to the latest report from WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is now working on a useful feature, yes you read that right, WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.24.2.17 adds a new file-sharing option.
For now, the feature is only available to WhatsApp beta users on Android, but we can expect it to roll out to iOS and general users soon.
WABetaInfo also shared screenshots of a new way of sharing files on WhatsApp. As per the image below, the People Nearby section will soon be available.
The feature is expected to work with people near each other and in contact lists. Users will be able to send up to 2GB of files over Bluetooth with the new feature without having to open the chat with the intended recipient.
