MSS and Samsung to support 5 Fabless Companies

According to the latest information, The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) recently organized an event called the Fabless Challenge. This event was held at the KBIZ DMC Tower, and it aimed to find and help really good fabless semiconductor companies. With the South Korean tech giant, Samsung it took place on August 29th.”

For your information, the Fabless Challenge started in 2022. It’s meant to make the semiconductor industry in Korea stronger and give small companies that design chips but don’t make them (fabless) a chance to grow. This year, they picked five really good fabless startups after carefully looking at their documents and presentations. The chosen companies are Gwanak Analog, DamoaTech, Bos Semiconductors, Alpha Solutions, and One Semicon.

For these startups, Samsung Electronics will help them get access to their special chip-making process and technology. The MSS will also give them financial support, up to 100 million won per company.”

“In order for the semiconductor industry, one of the main industries of Korea, to take off once again, there is a great need to foster system semiconductor companies, in particular, excellent fabless companies,” Deputy Minister Oh said. “The MSS will continue to step up its efforts to foster promising fabless companies and promote balanced development between fabless and foundry companies through win-win cooperation.”
