Samsung C&T Wins 750 Billion Won Landmark Project in Taiwan

On June 20, 2023, the Construction Division of Samsung C&T announced its successful bid for the Fubon Aozihdi Development Project – reported by Business Korea. The project was issued by Fubon Life Insurance, a subsidiary of Fubon Financial Group, a prominent financial institution in Taiwan.

The Fubon Aozihdi Development Project is located in Kaohsiung, Taiwan’s second-largest city. It involves the construction of an impressive 48-floor office building, towering at a height of 240 meters. Additionally, the project includes a 23-story hotel and a 13-floor neighborhood facility (podium) that serves as a connection between the two buildings.

The total area of 557,000 square meters, is expected to include shopping malls and aquariums, and is anticipated to become a landmark representing Taiwan upon completion. Samsung C&T has formed a joint venture with local construction companies to win the project, with Samsung C&T’s share of the total construction cost, which amounts to 1 trillion won, being about 750 billion won (US$580 million). Samsung C&T has carried out various construction projects, including high-speed railroads, petrochemical plants, and theme parks.
