Samsung Galaxy Self-Repair Program expanding

June 19/2023: Samsung has announced the Self-repair program in a number of European countries.

May 30/2023: Willingly, consumers of Samsung Galaxy smartphones and laptops will be able to repair their purchases in the future. Reportedly, Samsung Electronics disclosed that it will launch a “self-repair program” in the country from 30 May 2023. This is intended to make consumers repair their own products.

With the commencement of the self-repair program, Korean consumers will be able to purchase the essential parts online and repair the device on their own. Presently, the self-repair will initiate for selected models and limited parts. The self-repair starts with three models including the Galaxy S20, S21, and S22 series. In laptop and TV, then it comprises the Galaxy Book Pro 39.6cm (15.6-inch) series laptops and an 80 cm (32-inch) TV. Three of the TV models are UN32N4000AFXKR, UN32N4010AFXKR, and UN32N4020AFXKR respectively.

Talking about Smartphones then it is conveniently possible to repair three parts: the display, the back cover, and the charging port. While a total of seven parts when it comes to laptops. It includes a touchpad and a fingerprint recognition power button, which are covered by self-repair. While in the case of three TV models, the panel can be replaced.

Additionally, the seven parts of the notebook comprise of Display, Battery, Touchpad, Fingerprint Power Button, Front Case, Rear Case, and Rubber.

To assist the customers in repairing. The user can check the repair manuals and videos for every part on the Samsung Electronics website. While, after replacing a part, the user uses the ‘self-repair assistant app.’ This is in order to optimize the new part to work appropriately. It is to check, whether there is any flaw in the repair. That results from self-diagnosis of the ‘Samsung Members App’.

Notably, Samsung brought a self-repair program in the United States in August last year. Whereas, further expanding the repair options for Galaxy users. This is the second in Korea. Meanwhile, the target model has been expanded to some TV products.
