June 14, 2023: The release of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra June 2023 firmware update has been recently reported as postponed. Earlier rumors had suggested that the highly anticipated 2x zoom option update for the new Galaxy S23 Ultra would be available by June 12 or June 13. However, a reliable tipster on Twitter has confirmed a delay.
Ice Universe, a popular and trusted source for leaks and information, revealed that the delay is due to unresolved problems with the firmware update.
Now, according to Ice Universe, “the S23 users are looking forward to the June update, so I consulted the internal testers to let them talk about their feelings. He told me that the S23 Ultra June firmware battery life is still great, and the overall fluency has improved.”
The highlight of this update is the addition of a 2x zoom option in Portrait mode. This feature will allow users to zoom in and enhance the background blur, resulting in stunning portrait shots. The mode utilizes a 50MP crop from the device’s impressive 200MP main camera, which is then downscaled to 12MP for optimal results.
Ice Universe has also shared an image sample captured using the 2x portrait mode, claiming it to be superior in quality. Meanwhile, Samsung is currently conducting internal tests on a firmware update with the version WE9 specifically for the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
In addition to the 2x zoom mode update, Samsung plans to release an update soon to address HDR-related issues. The Galaxy S23 Ultra boasts a quad-camera setup at the rear, which includes a remarkable 200MP main camera, a 12MP wide-angle camera, and a pair of 10MP telephoto cameras that offer 3x and 10x optical zoom capabilities.
On a related note, recent leaks regarding the Galaxy S24 Ultra, the flagship smartphone expected to launch in 2024, suggest that it will feature the same camera specifications as the S23 Ultra.
