Google optimizes Drive and Docs apps to enhance the foldable experience

Strikingly Google has come up with pair of new updates for Google Drive on Android. This motive at enabling more cohesive design between both platforms i.e. web and mobile. At the same time, it also caters to improvising the experience with foldable.

The first of its kind is the optimization of the Google Drive app for foldable devices, this is achieved by implementing the visual tweak. The item preview viewer now depicts controls that will intelligently respond to the position of the foldable device. All it depends on whether it is opened, closed, or even partially opened. While, once it found the correct position, the viewer and the controls will adjust themselves accordingly.

This will be specifically more helpful if you are having devices like Galaxy Z Fold or other forthcoming foldable. One of the impressive folding smartphones that get benefit from the change is Google’s own forthcoming Pixel Fold. The same is anticipated to come later this month for those who pre-ordered the device.

In addition to this, using Google Docs on an Android device, you will now open to see your in paginated form/mode, on opening it first. There’s one exception to this which is if the document has already been set to open in “pageless” mode.

Pageless Mode

Pageless mode sets up your document so that it can be seamlessly scrolled without any breaks. Additionally, images also adjust as per screen size and wide tables can be completely viewed by scrolling to the left and right. To be specific the paginated mode showcases your document with pages and page breaks. Notably, this view was not available earlier for mobile.

In contrast, Google has been slowly but definitely updating its own apps. So that they perform effortlessly on larger real estate on tablets and foldable.
