Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 foldable smartphones are tipped to launch in late July 2023. Samsung’s next Unpacked event will be held in South Korea this year. Currently, the expected date of the new foldable launch is July 26th and the shipment will start on August 11.
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is said to be available in beige, black, light blue, dark blue and platinum. Now, according to the reliable tipster Ice Universe, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5 will use a water drop hinge, but the crease is much larger than that of China brand mobile phone so that the crease looks similar to Fold4. Its crease is only 15% less than Fold 4.
Earlier it was revealed that the new waterdrop hinge will enable the two sides of the device to lay completely flat against each other. That would improve the durability of the foldable.
The upcoming Z Fold 5 is rumoured to come with water resistant and dust resistance, specifically that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 could have an IP58 certification. If it did, the foldable would be the first of Samsung’s to adopt IP58 certification, rather than the IPX8 the current model sports.
Apart from the hinge, the Fold 5 to launch with 254 grams weight would make it 9 grams lighter than the Fold 4 and the dimensions will be 154.9 x 129.9 x 6.1mm when open, and 154.9mm x 67.1 x 13.4mm when closed.
