Galaxy S23 Plus new AWEJ firmware testing spotted

Samsung has a good track record of releasing a new update to its latest flagship lineup. Now, according to the information, Samsung will soon release a new June 2023 software update for the Galaxy S23 lineup which may fix HDR issues and bring new camera features.

The company will soon enable 2x portrait zoom. The new mode was spotted by IceUniverse during a testing phase of unreleased firmware for the S23 Ultra. As per the latest firmware testing screenshot, Samsung is testing a new software update for its Galaxy S23+ with the firmware version S916NKSU2AWEJ in Korea. This new update may feature new camera changes.

It seems that Samsung will use sensor zoom to get 50 MP crops out of the 200 MP ISOCELL HP2 sensor under the main lens of the phone. For your information, the Galaxy S23 smartphones currently have 1x and 3x in Portrait mode – toggling between the primary camera and the 3x telephoto unit with 10MP sensor and 70mm equivalent focal length.
