June 02, 2023: Samsung has started rolling out the May 2023 security update to the Galaxy S21 series in India. Last week, the same update was released to the Galaxy S21 FE in India. Other regions could get the new security update within the next couple of weeks.
The latest software update for the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra comes with firmware version G998BXXS7EWD3. The May 1, 2023, Android security bulletin includes fixes for 72 security flaws that affect a wide array of devices. Three fixes are specific to Exynos chips as they can also be found in the S22 series, and which may be the finishing touch following the ‘ modem leak’ that surfaced in March. Vulnerabilities in the security of the Theme Manager, Knox, and Gear Manager apps are also being addressed.

For your information, the South Korean tech giant debuted the Galaxy S21 series in early 2021 with Android 11-based One UI 3.1. The lineup has already received the Android 12-based One UI 4.1 update in 2021 and the Android 13 update in 2022.
You can now download the new update by navigating to Settings > Software update > tapping Download and Install.
