Gboard for Android’s shortcuts toolbar redesign go wide

Gboard for Android’s shortcuts toolbar redesign was first rolled out in mid-February for some users only now it’s been widely rolling out….!! You can now have up to six shortcuts appear as the circular chevron button at the far left has been replaced by a 2×2 grid icon shows/hides the full shortcuts panel, instead of just the strip. Also, the voice microphone now usercustomizable/replaceable.

You can put anything in that right-most spot now. In fact, you no longer have to fill up the entire row and can just have one shortcut appear. This is helpful if you’ve only ever found a handful of the Gboard shortcuts to be useful.

Tapping on the new 2×2 square icon placed in a circle at the left. Shortcuts are placed in a rounded rectangle container. After the redesign grid below is now more compact and shows four to a row. You can customize while hold-and-drag gesture. Additionally, “Emoji” is a new tile you can use istaed of the button to the left of the space bar.

This Gboard shortcuts toolbar’s redesign version 13.0 is rolling out wide, though under the umbrella of the beta. Just now anything we can do is only wait for the stable version of the redesigned.
