On May 24, 2023, Samsung officially announced that it is launching the ‘Smart Factory 3.0’ project. This project will use artificial intelligence (AI) and data technology to advance manufacturing sites of small and medium-sized enterprises into intelligent factories. The South Koren tech giant will contribute to the expansion of the ‘spontaneous local smart factory ecosystem’, which is carried out by local governments by holding hands with local governments and smart factory beneficiaries beyond individual companies.

Samsung on its new Smart Factory 3.0 project looking to invest a total of 30 billion won for 3 years, 10 billion won annually, to support the establishment and advancement of smart factories in 600 SMEs.

Samsung Electronics started the smart factory business for small and medium-sized enterprises in North Gyeongsang Province in 2015 and expanded it nationwide in 2016. Samsung Electronics has supported the construction of smart factories in a total of 3,000 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) nationwide through the smart factory project for eight years until last year.

To recall, Samsung Electronics started the smart factory business for small and medium-sized enterprises in North Gyeongsang Province in 2015 and supported the construction of smart factories in a total of 3,000 small and medium-sized enterprises nationwide for eight years until last year.
