Update 3 – May 18, 2023: Samsung has started rolling out the May 2023 security software update for the Galaxy Tab S8 Plus users in India. The update is rolling with firmware version X800XXU4BWD8.

Update 2 – May 10, 2023:  The latest May 2023 security software update for the Galaxy Tab S8 is rolling with firmware version X700OPU4BWD8. The Galaxy Tab S8+ and the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra are getting the new patch with firmware versions X800OPU4BWD8 and X900OPU4BWD8, respectively in Japan.

Update 1 – May 04, 2023Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Series European units are now receiving the May 2023 security patch update. The firmware version is rolling out with version X906BXXU4BWD8. The May 2023 security patch fixes issues related to the Exynos modems, the bootloader, and more.

Note that the update comes with a huge 1.6GB of download size. Unfortunately, the changelog doesn’t mention much information about the software update. If you are a Galaxy Tab S8 series user, you can download the new update by heading to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and Install.

Meanwhile, Samsung is expected to launch the new Galaxy Tab S9 Series alongside the foldable devices – Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 in July 2023 (Busan, South Korea). Recently, the alleged Galaxy Tab S9 Series models have appeared on the Geekbench listing as well as on the FCC listing. Ahead of the official debut, the S-Pen for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 tablet has also received the REL (Radio Equipment List) certification from Canada.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 tablet is expected to come equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. It will likely have the One UI 5.1 custom user interface based on the Android 13 operating system.
