Reportedly, Samsung is en route toward the national convention for U.S. Special Operations Forces, SOF Weeks 2023. This has been scheduled from May 8 to 11 in Tampa, Fla. Notably, in this convention, the South Korean tech behemoth demonstrates its growing portfolio of government technology solutions.
Tactical Edition Mobile Devices
Remarkably, Samsung will preview its latest Tactical Edition mobile devices. These devices are substantially designed to metamorphose the way military personnel operates. It enables enhanced situational awareness and decision-making capabilities. These new models are based on Samsung’s most recent flagship, the Galaxy S23 smartphone, and the recent Galaxy XCover6 Pro smartphone.
Both of these models are mission-ready smartphones that have all the essential capabilities that make them enable the warfighter alongside the newest technology. It is equipped with all support needs of tactical and classified applications. The same comprises navigating complex terrain and communications with command units.
Essential Capabilities
- Easy Integration: Both of these new devices are introduced to work with all required applications. It comprises of the Android Team Awareness Kit (ATAK) and Battlefield Assisted Trauma Distributed Observation Kit (BATDOK) respectively.
- Enhanced Connectivity: The devices come preconfigured with software and purpose-built drivers. This brings support to tactical radio and mission device protocols. Whereas, it also supports conventional cellular capabilities and stealth mode for completely off-grid communications.
- Situational Awareness: This offers solutions that are highly durable and built to withstand any tactical environment. It can be operated at night with night-vision optics, in wet environments with gloves, or strapped in a flip-down chest mount.
- Defense-Grade Security: Both devices are protected by the defense-grade Samsung Knox security platform. Along with Knox Dual Data at Rest (DualDAR) meets NSA requirements for protecting confidential data. Support for two layers of encryption, even when powered off.
- One Device, All Missions: Both solutions can connect to a larger display and keyboard for a PC-like experience with Samsung DeX, enabling a single device to support operations in the field, in a vehicle, or on the base.
Collaboration for the latest Hardware Capabilities
Moving ahead, in addition to the latest Tactical Edition devices, the Korean behemoth also disclosed a partnership with Privoro for a new hardware-to-hardware mobile security capability. This would first be available on the Galaxy S22 respectively.
