Samsung shipped 19.1 million units of mobile AP in Q1 2023

The South Korean tech giant shows growth in shipments of mobile application processors in the first quarter of 2023. You will be glad to know that Samsung is the only company to achieve enhancements.

According to the Market research firm Strategy Analytics, Samsung shipped 19.1 million units of mobile AP (Application Processor) in Q1 2023, up 15 percent from 16.3 million units during the same period last year.

In terms of Samsung’s competitor, MediaTek’s shipment dropped 31 percent year on year to 104.4 million units. Qualcomm’s shipments fell 3 percent to 85.2 million, Apple’s shipments fell 6 percent to 45.9 million, and UNISOC’s shipments plummeted 74 percent.

Samsung achieves growth with budget smartphones also including the Galaxy A53, A33, and M33. These models come with the Exynos 1280 application processor which was released in April last year.

In the first quarter of this year, Exynos 1380 and 1330 were adopted for the Galaxy A54 and A34. In addition, the Exynos 850, which was released in 2021, has been used in eight models, including the A13.

The source says, in the second quarter of this year, Samsung will perform much better as the company has recently released the Exynos 1380 and 1330. The market research firm estimated Samsung Electronics’ Q2 shipments at 20.8 million units, up 19 percent year on year.  For your information, Samsung used Exynos 1380 in Galaxy A54 and Exynos 1330 in the Galaxy A14.
