CEO of UBI Research suggests Samsung to increase adoption of OLED

At the 2023 OLED Korea conference, Lee Choong-hoon, CEO of UBI Research, a market research firm, suggests that “Samsung Electronics needs to increase the adoption of organic light-emitting diodes (OLED) to maintain its No. 1 position in the global TV market.”

At the ‘2023 OLED Korea Conference’ held in Incheon on the 13th, CEO Lee Choong-hoon said, “If Samsung Electronics wants to avoid the risk of purchasing LCD TV panels and maintain its No. 1 position in the TV market, all high-end TVs will switch to OLED and 30% of mid-end TVs The ideal should be replaced with OLED,” he insisted.

According to the report form The Elec, if Samsung Electronics replaces all Neo QLED TVs with OLED, the OLED TV market can grow from 9 million to 9.5 million units this year to 12 million units in 2024. If the OLED TV market exceeds 10 million units, Samsung Display’s additional QD-OLED investment is also required.
