Google banning photo and contacts access, restricts loan apps on Android

Google updated the policy center page which suggested restricting the personal loan apps on Android, banning photo and contacts access…..!!

Google practices for controlling over accessing personal data on your phone including photos and your contacts list while updating its policy on personal loan apps on Android.

The search giant spells out that apps that offer personal loans cannot request photos/videos, contacts, phone numbers, precise location data, or external storage. Therefore Google restricts access to personal data.

Apps that provide personal loans, or have the primary purpose of facilitating access to personal loans (i.e., lead generators or facilitators), are prohibited from accessing sensitive data, such as photos and contacts.

While executing this plan, will result in curing a trend where mobile apps have been used by debt collectors who have allegedly pulled the user’s personal contacts from their phones through the app to contact friends and family about outstanding debts. This is more likely seen in India and Kenya.

It is found that the change will be rolling on May 31.
