Samsung beats Apple in global smartphone market, thanks to S23 Series

With the leading Galaxy S23 Series performance and capabilities, the South Korean tech giant ranks first in global smartphone sales in February 2023. According to the latest report from Counterpoint Research, Samsung Electronics accounted for 21.1 per cent of the global smartphone market with a 3.5 percent point increase from the previous month in February, beating Apple.

In the second position, Apple gained 20.2 percent of market share, which represented a decrease of 0.7 percentage point. In the third, fourth and fifth positions, Xiaomi (11.5 percent), Oppo (8.9 percent), and Vivo (8.2 percent) were placed on the list.

As per the latest stats, a total of 89.57 million units of smartphones were shipped globally in February 2023, down 10 percent from the previous month and down 15 percentage points from a year before.

While, in China, 21.39 million smartphones were sold, down 10 percent from the previous year and 28 percent from the previous month. Meanwhile, in the United States, 9.43 million units were sold, a decrease of 6 percent from January and a year-on-year drop of 4 percent.

In Europe, 12.27 million units were shipped, down by 2 percent from January and 22 percent from a year earlier. In India, 10.08 million units were sold in January, which resulted in a month-on-month drop of 4 percent and a year-on-year drop of 18 percent.
