WhatsApp will soon let users silence unknown callers from WhatsApp Communities

WhatsApp Edit Messages feature soon to be there

Reportedly, WhatsApp’s Silence Unknown Callers is a new feature that is under development by the famous Meta-owned platform. While the feature that we are talking about is recognized by WABetaInfo in its recent WhatsApp Beta version. As per the sources, this feature allows users to silence unwanted calls from unknown numbers. Whereas, it still displays it in the notification center and calls tab in order to check who called. This upcoming new feature enables users to prevent potential spam calls and unwanted interruptions.

WhatsApp Introduces Silence Unknown Callers feature

Notably, ahead of this year in April, WhatsApp launched its much-anticipated WhatsApp Community. This enables the group admins to bring multiple similar groups under one head for flexibility. Although the feature had one drawback when the groups were segregated together, and members were then added to another large common group. Then everyone could see every other member’s contact number.

Therefore, this vanquishes the purpose of being separate groups in the first place, which ultimately gave rise to spam calls. While it appears WhatsApp developers were not unaware of it, and subsequently working on it. Also, this new feature is under development on WhatsApp Beta for Android.

It will locate a toggle for Silence Unknown Callers in the settings section of the app. Thus, it gives the ability the user to turn on and off to screen unwanted calls. And, it really going to be helpful in order to prevent pranks, spam, and harassing calls.

As per the report, around 95% of WhatsApp subscribers get spam instead of choosing the national Do Not Disturb registry. On the other hand, another report depicts that 93 million numbers that were registered with TRAI’s “do not disturb” service is further put on sale on the dark web.
