Google may indulge Imagen to Google Keyboard in future

2023's best keyboard apps for Android

The usage of AI has a part of every imagination in today’s world as it has grown vital. The lately arrived AI that came to the attention of the tech market is Imagen, Google‘s text-to-image generator. And now, it seems that Imagen may soon be integrated into Gboard, Google’s virtual keyboard for Android devices.

The latest beta version (12.7.05.507749191) of Keyboard that recently appeared on the Play Store found the potential integration of Images into Gboard.

The special thing to note is that the “Imagen Keyboard,” is in its early stages of development. The lines of code hinted at the development of features.  This will appear alongside other features such as Clipboard, Translate, and One-handed in the shortcuts strip/page.

The lost Hype Surrounding Image

Google announced the AI-powered text-to-image generator, the Imagen in May 2022. When DALL-E 2 was all the rage and another popular text-to-image generator was being made. The feature is more concerned to generate pictures from words.

At the present, Imagen reportedly produces photographs with “unprecedented photorealism,” making it a promising addition to Gboard.

According to Google, Imagen was benchmarked against other text-to-image generators, including VQ-GAN+CLIP, Latent Diffusion Models, and DALL-E 2, and was found to be the preferred choice among human raters in side-by-side comparisons. Thanks to its superior sample quality and image-text alignment.

Imagen is also known for its ability to handle spatial relations, long-form text, rare words, and challenging prompts.

Our key discovery is that generic large language models (e.g. T5), pretrained on text-only corpora, are surprisingly effective at encoding text for image synthesis: increasing the size of the language model in Imagen boosts both sample fidelity and image-text alignment much more than increasing the size of the image diffusion model.

Google

While Google has yet to release the code or a public demo for Imagen. The company has hinted that its text-to-image work will eventually be included as part of AI Test Kitchen Season 2. With the potential integration of a feature into Gboard, it’s clear that Google is taking steps to make this technology more accessible to everyday users.

 Imagen proves to be successful

It can be clearly observed that Google is much concentrated and continuing to invest in AI and is working to bring its latest advancements to its products as quickly as possible.

Therefore, if Imagen proves to be as successful as Google claims, it could revolutionize the way we communicate and interact with our devices. While at present we can not make an estimation that the look of the Imagen Keyboard.

We’ll let you know more about further developments taking place and will inform you simultaneously.
