Samsung is looking to invest in India. According to the latest report, the Korean tech giant has decided to produce its next-generation foldable smartphones in India to make it a key smartphone production base.
Currently, the company produces mid- and low-priced smartphones in India. India is the leading market in terms of the global smartphone market.
As U.S. export restrictions on China are rapidly disrupting the Chinese semiconductor industry, some analysts are raising the possibility of Samsung Electronics relocating its semiconductor production facilities. In 2022 alone, 5,746 Chinese semiconductor companies canceled their business registrations. In China, the number of semiconductor companies that went out of business totaled 1,397 in 2020, but it soared to 3,420 in 2021.
Apart from the above details, the Indian government also asking Samsung Electronics to consider making a semiconductor plant in India. Meanwhile, Samsung has recently launched a trio of Galaxy flagships, the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Samsung’s focus is now shifted to the next foldable smartphones that are scheduled to launch in Q3 this year — the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5.
Recently it was confirmed by the leaker that the cover display on the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 5 would be larger than the one on the OPPO Find N2 Flip, although other industry giants are expected to enter the market like Motorola.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 expected features
Apart from the larger display leak, Samsung hasn’t offered any details about the upcoming foldable. It’s likely that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Z Fold 5 will be running One UI 5.1.1 or a newer software version at launch. Under the hood, there is a possibility that these new foldable should feature Snapdragon’s current flagship mobile SoC, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which also powers the lineup of Galaxy S23 flagships.
