6G Network is expected to arrive in 2028

On a very recent note on 21 February, the Korean Ministry of Science and ICT from South Korea affirmed that it will launch its own 6G network using world-class technology, and advanced software-based next-gen mobile networks. Also, they are planning to strengthen their network supply chains this way.

In order to encourage the production of materials, components, and equipment for the development of its 6G network the South Korean government plans to incentivize local companies. Additionally, it also plans to strengthen its supply chain to support said network. A feasibility study that’s researching core 6G technology already has started and is in progress.

// The project is worth 625.3 billion won (roughly $482.1 million).

South Korea seems goal oriented since this initiative to beat the rest of the world to 6G technology. South Korea is Asia’s fourth-largest economy and accounted for 25.9% of 5G patents in 2022 (meanwhile, China accounted for 26.8%). This year the country’s government is hoping to break past 30% or more in 6G patents among the competition.

As the words mean of Zhang Yongtao, deputy general manager of Ericsson China Technology Department, 6G will unite what’s virtual and reality. He suggests that 6G will bring holographic communication out of science fiction and into reality. It’s been estimated that the 6G Network will arrive in 2028.
