WhatsApp launches most awaited picture-in-picture mode for video calls on iOS

Undoubtedly, WhatsApp is Meta’s famous communications app. Recently, this has been added a new, most awaited feature that will enable iPhone users to be on a video call on the app while doing certain other things simultaneously on the phone.

As per the report, the newest version of WhatsApp is being rolled out to users presently finally providing support for picture-in-picture (PiP) mode for video calls.

This has been referring to the app that has been switched to a small floating window that shows participants’ lists during a video call. It simultaneously keeps the user’s camera active. Even if the user exits the app or switches to another app during the middle of the call.

How WhatsApp PiP video call works

Hence, in order to make the most out of this feature, users will simply make sure that their WhatsApp on iPhones is updated with the latest version. This has been found as 23.3.77 respectively. While this new version is the same that enables PiP mode in order to do video calls. Notably, the same feature are used by some other services for a long time back. An app such as FaceTime had this feature for their users for approx three years now.

Alternatively, Apple brings support for PiP video call on their operating system in the year 2020. The same allows video streaming in a floating window, as well as video calls in floating windows. Notably, PiP mode, to be sure is an essential multitasking feature. Because it doesn’t limit the user from using other services during a call.

Talking about other vital features that have been added as part of this new WhatsApp update comprise the capability to add written captions when sharing documents. While the new feature of the app also enables the user to add longer group descriptions. And also enable users to create stickers and their own avatars on the platform.
