264 million LCD units shipped by Samsung in 2022

According to the latest information from Omdia, there are a total of 264 million units shipped by Samsung Electronics last year, liquid crystal display (LCD) models accounted for 57%/150 million units, and organic light emitting diode (OLED) models accounted for 43%/114 million units.

As compared to 2021, Samsung shipped 256 million units in 2020, OLED models accounted for 62%, or 159 million units, and LCD models accounted for 38%, or 97 million units.

Omdia predicted that Samsung Electronics would ship 133 million OLED smartphones and 132 million LCD smartphones this year.

Worldwide OLED smartphone shipments increased by 5 million units from 546 million units in 2021 to 551 million units in 2022. Worldwide LCD smartphone shipments declined from 794 million units in 2021 to 688 million units in 2022. Overall smartphone shipments declined from 1.34 billion units in 2021 to 1.239 billion units in 2022. Omdia predicted that a total of 1.245 billion units will be shipped this year, including 609 million OLED smartphones and 636 million LCD smartphones.
