In Q4 2022, IDC reported 3.3% throughout 2022 and gained 0.3% for Q4 of the same year. In 2022, Apple was the only OEM to post a modest growth of 7%, the company recorded an impressive 28.8% growth year-over-year, while Samsung had a modest 7.1% increase in sales for the same period.

Huawei and Lenovo ranked third and fourth respectively with 5.1% market share.

Regarding the worldwide tablet shipments in Q3 2022, Anuroopa Nataraj, senior research analyst with IDC’s Mobility and Consumer Device Trackers said,

After massive growth in 2020 and 2021, a decline in the tablet market was expected in 2022. The market is now experiencing not only a slowdown in demand, but also some strong macro-economic headwinds. Even though most tablets (Android) and Chromebooks are lower cost, we’re now seeing buyer concerns even at the low end. This is largely driven by these rising economic concerns.

However, tablets have found many more use cases since the pandemic, from their role in the workspace to both in-person and remote learning, entertainment, and even digital transformations across various verticals.
