OnePlus 11 getting 4 Major OS and 5 years of security

Oneplus flagship sets to get four major Android updates and support for five years of security patches. This means that users who own the upcoming OnePlus flagship will get Android 14, Android 15, Android 16, and Android 17 versions via OTA updates in the coming years. Now, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has revealed that the 11 5G will get the most number of software updates that the company has ever revealed for its phones.

Apple and Samsung have already set a benchmark in the industry when it comes to providing software support. While Apple does not have a set number of years as a promise, it is known to provide iOS updates to iPhone models as old as six years. Therefore, OnePlus joins the race of companies that offer longer update support to provide a premium smartphone software experience.

Android’s owner Google lags behind the two tech giants when it comes to the number of software updates. Google has promised to provide three major Android updates and security support for up to five years for its latest Pixel phones.

OPPO affirmed providing software support for up to five years for its flagship smartphones. The premium OPPO smartphones will get four major Android updates and five years of security support. Motorola also is sort of behind in this regard. Although, the Lenovo-owned company has a reputation for rolling out the latest Android updates soon.

The only players who do not have a definite word on the software update cycle are Realme, Vivo, and Xiaomi. There may be some other plans, well what is your idea regarding OnePlus following the subline of Samsung?
