Google is looking to bring a webcam-related upgrade for you on the upcoming Android 14 version. Despite the pandemic, we used webcams for meeting work, etc. The market for dedicated USB cameras also growing rapidly.
As spotted by Mishaal Rahman, Google is working on its own answer to the Camo app and Apple’s “Continuity Camera.”
For your information, the Camo app allows you to easily use an iOS or Android device as a webcam on a Windows or Mac computer.
The code reads “DeviceAsWebcam,” which seems the company is gearing up for this implementation. He noted, “Android is adding a new “DeviceAsWebcam” service that “turns an android device into a
webcam.” Specifically, Android devices that support the standard UVC (USB video class) gadget mode will be able to send video data that hosts can read from /dev/video* nodes.”
