Nearby Share branding make their presence in Files by Google app

Google has changed the name and renamed the “Share” tab in the Files app to “Nearby Share.”

Since the Nearby Share sheet is pending for a Material You design. But subsequently, this has been finally making their presence in the Files by Google app, now the same has been more prominent.

While Google has changed the name and renamed the “Share” tab in the Files app to “Nearby Share.” This is done with a double helix icon replacing the two arrows. However, there are no real-time changes to the functionality of the app. And it already takes the advantage of Nearby Share and is explicitly done in the UI.

Additionally, this has been rolled out in the form of a server-side update with version number 1.0.502292351 of the Files app. (The app shortcut hasn’t been updated.)

At CES 2023, Google also shared that Nearby Share. This has been available across some approx 3 billion devices. One of the most recent updates last year added support for self-sharing. Whereas, still set to ultimately arrive on Windows PCs. While some Material You tweaks on Android for the bottom sheet should arrive before then.

Meanwhile, subsequently, Files by Google in India are getting prominent support for government-verified. Also, digital files to allow people “quickly and safely organize their most-used documents on their smartphones for easy and private access on the go.” Additionally, Passports, driver’s licenses, and vaccination cards will be going to live in a new “Important” tab that is visible between “Clean” and “Browse.”
