Samsung’s Gallery app has one of the adept features that can consolidate the same images, and bring out the “best” photo from the group. Also, the gallery app doesn’t delete the remaining photos that were not tagged as “best.” Whereas it doesn’t display them as regular photos you can go through. While doing this, it raises an issue, the same we going to discuss in this article.
However, this feature works absolutely fine most of the time when enabled, while it can also raise an issue. Since the algorithm doesn’t detect subtle changes every time in your photos. Even when if they click at different times. To understand this, for instance, if you want to photograph multiple steps of your food cooking over a certain time. You might end up with just one “best” photo, whereas you won’t be able to view the other at the time when swiping through your gallery.
The Gallery app is not able to differentiate between the two photos. As it cant recognize that one of the photos was captured at a different stage in the build. On the other hand, as far as the Gallery app is governed, the subject is similar in both photos. Exclude the one that has better lighting and composition.
To be more precise the Gallery app may group similar photos when you don’t want it to do so. Although, thankfully it is possible this feature, and ungroups similar images.
Procedure to ungroup similar images in Samsung Gallery
Alternatively, to ungroup similar images in Samsung Gallery in One UI 5.0 with minimal effort. The steps are, Open the Gallery app, and ensure the “Pictures” are visible then tab at the bottom. Again tap the button at the top that depicts shaped like two squares overlapping each other.
Although, this button is visible only when you’re at the top of your Gallery, also scrolling down through your images will hide it. Hence, please ensure that you’ve scrolled all the way up before glaring for the “Group similar images” / “Ungroup similar images” button.
