Samsung Biologics receives the Sustainable Markets Initiative’s Terra Carta Seal

The Terra Carta Seal was launched at COP26 by His Majesty King Charles III when he was Prince of Wales.

Samsung Biologics is a leading contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO). It has received the Sustainable Markets Initiative’s Terra Carta Seal, this has been announced by the company on Jan 11 respectively.

Additionally, the Terra Carta Seal was launched at COP26 by His Majesty King Charles III when he was Prince of Wales. This has been recognizing worldwide companies that are responsible to drive innovation and demonstrating their commitments to and momentum towards the creation of truly sustainable markets. And being awarded to companies whose ambitions are positioned with those of the Terra Carta. Notably, Terra Carta is a recovery plan for Nature, People, and the Planet that was launched in 2021 respectively.

Also, Samsung Biologics proclaims its commitment in order to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions. This span across its direct operations and supply chain by tentative 2050 or earlier. On the other hand, Samsung Biologics presently also working in order to drive successful decarbonization. It is intended by committing to 100% renewable power.

The Terra Carta Seal acknowledges that each industry faces some diverse challenges in its transformation to a sustainable future. While they are at different positions in their journey. Whereas, all industries and companies should be supported as they step towards a positive goal. At the same time, a fast pace is considerably required if we are intended to achieve a 1. 5-degree target, and protect and restore biodiversity.

Samsung Biologics intended to eliminate carbon emissions

Meanwhile, its work intended to eliminate carbon emissions from its own operations. Since Samsung Biologics is alluring its suppliers as part of a broader initiative by the Supply Chains Working Group within the Sustainable Markets Initiative’s Health Systems Task Force. This is to reduce direct emissions and at the same time, to identify carbon reduction options with the intention of reaching net zero in its supply chain. Recently, the Task Force revealed joint action at COP27 to achieve near-term emissions reduction targets.
