Samsung and LG Electronics Facing off in Automotive Electronics Business

As per the piece of information, both of them are facing off in the automotive electronics market.

Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics are two major leading competitors in the electronics industry. While as per the piece of information, both of them are facing off in the automotive electronics market.

Since LG Electronics and its affiliated subsidiaries have initiated to expand their workforce in the field of electric vehicles (EVs). The same has emerged as a cash cow. As LG Electronics and its division are recruiting automotive software engineers from Dec. 26 to Jan. 15.

As per the announcement done for job opportunities, the tech firm is hiring new employees among 16 domains. It includes advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) cameras, connected car services, and microcontroller units (MCUs).

LG Innotek, which is a parts and materials affiliate of LG Electronics is also increasing its team size by hiring new employees. These employees have pursued their master’s and doctoral degrees from overseas colleges and universities. These students are also from the fields of vehicle-embedded SW, vehicle radar circuit design, vehicle networks, and protocol development. Notably, the application deadline is Jan. 9.

LG Electronics subsidiaries seem to strengthen their automotive electronics business. This is not only reflected in their hiring but also in their booths at CES 2023.

Noticeably, LG Innotek has only invited officials from corporate customers to its booth at CES. While this year, it plans to open a booth for the public and this is the very first time. In order to showcase autonomous driving and electric vehicle parts.

In addition to this info, LG Display enjoys a 90 percent share of the automotive display market. While it consistently delivers various automotive displays optimized for future automobiles. It includes plastic OLED (P-OLED) displays and low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) LCDs.

Samsung Group seems to focus its efforts on Electric Vehicle business

Concurrently, Samsung Group also seems to focus its efforts on strengthening its electric vehicle business. The same has evolved recently as a major future growth driver. Samsung Electro-Mechanics, which is an affiliate of Samsung Electronics intended to set up a private booth at CES2023 respectively.

Jang Duk-Hyun, the president of Samsung Electro-Mechanics, also declared that the company will switch its growth axis from mobile parts to automobile parts. Since, December 2022, the company remodel its organization to strengthen its competitiveness in the field of the automotive electronics business.

Samsung Group’s automotive electronics business is carried out by Harman (automotive electronics and audio), Samsung Display (displays), Samsung SDS (logistics), Samsung SDI (batteries), and Samsung Electro-Mechanics (camera module MLCCs). While, at the center is Harman, which is a distinctive electronics and audio company. This is incorporated as a Samsung subsidiary in 2017.
