Samsung has buns in its oven, as it expects its annual operating profit sales to reach 13.1 trillion won (about 71.919 billion yuan) from semiconductors in the year 2023….!!

Samsung employees are expected to receive a bonus equivalent to 5% to 11% of their 2023 annual salary. Which will be paid in January 2024. Samsung shared this data with employees in a note that explains how they will perform in 2022 and affects the number of expected bonuses paid in January.

Samsung’s annual operating profit from semiconductors sales reached 13.1 trillion won

At the beginning of each year, Samsung tends to pay employees performance bonuses. Which is paid out of profits that exceed each business unit’s previous year’s target. Up to 20% of surplus profits are used as bonuses, and each employee can receive up to 50% of their annual salary as a bonus.

For the year 2023 Samsung shared its expected annual profit for each business unit. However, it also shared the target profit and revenue of each business. This covers the Device Solutions division of the memory, logic, and foundry business units, with an estimated annual operating profit of 13.1 trillion won.

In order to get the maximum 50% bonus, they must reach an annual operating profit of 28 trillion won (about 153.72 billion yuan). Taking all the circumstances into consideration, it seems impossible to achieve as this year fully fluctuated throughout the days in the global memory chip market.

Accordingly, analysts expect Samsung’s semiconductor operating profit generated in 2022 to be between 25 trillion won (about 137.25 billion yuan) to 26 trillion won (about 142.74 billion yuan). If Samsung’s expectations are fully satisfied, its semiconductor operating profit in 2023 will be about half of its operating profit in 2022.
