Google can decode doctor's scribbled prescription

It could consume a big piece of your precious time or sometimes make you annoyed while you try to read the prescription that your doctor wrote for you, now Google will going to do this job to use AI. Google is working to achieve the ability to read and translate a doctor’s scribbled handwritten notes through Google’s AI translate feature.

On 19 December 2022 Google demonstrated this new AI translate feature during its annual ‘Google for India‘ conference. Google is working with pharmacists to create a model that will take the help of AI (Artificial Intelligence) and machine learning to translate hard-to-read handwritten notes.

One can take a picture of the prescription or upload one from their photo library to translate the prescription note. After the upload, the image will be processed, and the app will detect and highlight the medicines mentioned in the uploaded prescription. Google also announced that it is working on a single and unified model to cover more than 100 Indian languages for speech and text. This feature would empower millions of Android smartphone users, including Galaxy devices, to join the internet journey in the South Asian market.

Google has passed if official statement and said:

“This will act as an assistive technology for digitizing handwritten medical documents by augmenting the humans in the loop, such as pharmacists. However, no decision will be made solely based on the output provided by this technology.”

Though the feature that we are talking about is currently in the prototype and not ready for public rollout as of yet. But surely Google make this possible as soon as it can be. Until then we will node you that it is here stay tuned and connected via @Samnews24…
