Samsung Electronics recently disclosed that the company was named a winner of the 2022 SEAL Business Sustainability Awards. This is intended, in order to transform discarded fishing nets into a high-performance, recycled material for Galaxy devices.
It is worth noting that, every year, judged by a panel of sustainability and environment, social and governance (ESG) experts. The SEAL Awards are conducted to recognize the most influential sustainability initiatives. The top companies that drive environmental progress are also being recognized.

Notably, Samsung is a beneficiary of the SEAL Sustainable Product Award. Honoring the same represents the purpose-built products that move and change the world in a better way.
“A staggering 640,000 tons of fishing equipment are abandoned in the ocean each year, trapping and entangling marine life and damaging coral reefs. We applaud Samsung for transforming the Galaxy smartphone series to combat this environmental challenge,” said Matt Harney, Founder of SEAL Awards.
Additionally, discarded fishing nets are one of the most widespread and encroaching ocean-bound plastics that would be a serious threat to marine life and simultaneously to the planet. Noticeably, Samsung’s first integrate recycled discarded fishing nets with the Galaxy S22 series. Since then, has consistently used the material in design throughout the Galaxy ecosystem by using them in tablets, laptops, and earbuds.

With this ‘ Galaxy for the Planet’ initiative, Samsung attempted to develop and include recycled materials in all new products.
